Life of a Surgeon: Surgical Careers Speciality Night
The Life of a Surgeon. A first-hand insight into the day-to-day life of surgeons who are at the top of their fields. Each year we have brand new surgeons from various sub-specialty fields take us through their medical lives from high school to medical school to the operating theatre, with some detours into their personal lives along the way. They talk of the inspirations which lead them to surgery in their field. The struggles and losses, as well as the hair-raising successes. Their role models. How they outcompeted thousands of other applicants to earn their spot. And most importantly, their gold-standard personal advice which can’t be found in lecture theatres or textbooks. The end result: you walk away with the experience and guidance of four of Australia’s greatest hands-on-healers as decades of pain-staking work and sacrifice are summed up in two hours. But don’t be naive, surgeons are doctors too, so even if surgery isn’t in your plans, invaluable insight into the life of working doctors is still there waiting to fall upon any open mind.
